MAKOTO Officially Expands Healthcare Connections Between Japan and the Philippines

On August 25, 2026, MAKOTO successfully hosted a Seminar on Japanese Healthcare in Manila, Philippines, bringing together healthcare professionals and business partners from both Japan and the Philippines.

The seminar was honored by the participation of Dr. Takahiro Kameda, the 12th generation of the Kameda family, a medical family with a tradition of practicing medicine in Japan dating back to approximately 1644, with more than 380 years of history.

The event also brought together healthcare professionals, business representatives, and members of organizations from Japan, including representatives of Mitsubishi Insurance and the Lions Club. Participants exchanged views on Japan’s healthcare system, health management, and opportunities to access high-quality medical services in Japan.

The Philippines – A Country with a Remarkable Economic History in Asia

The Philippines and Japan have maintained a long-standing relationship of cooperation, which has developed significantly since the two countries normalized diplomatic relations in 1956.

According to the World Bank, until the early 1960s, the Philippines had the second-highest GDP per capita in Asia, after Japan. During this period, the Philippines was one of the region’s prominent economies.

Today, with a population of more than 100 million people and increasingly close economic ties with Japan, the Philippines remains an important market in Southeast Asia.
